Insurance Sector Crucial Opportunity for Economic Growth- Professor Kitila
Minister of Planning and Investment, Professor Kitila Mkumbo, has said that the government has created a conducive business environment, with the insurance sector being one of the opportunities for providing services to citizens in economic growth. Kitila made these remarks while celebrating the 25th anniversary of Icea Lion Insurance Company at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dar es Salaam.
He mentioned that celebrating 25 years marks a step towards celebrating 50 to 100 years due to the enabling business environment created by the government. Kitila highlighted that there are significant strategic government projects where insurance presents opportunities due to the services offered by various companies.

Professor Kitila stated that President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has opened up business opportunities that increase employment for citizens. On his part, Ilala District Commissioner Edward Mpogolo stated that it is time for Icea Lion to collaborate in providing education on motor accident insurance, and the district is ready to provide support.
He emphasized that Dar es Salaam is a hub for commerce, where the insurance sector is highly important. Icea Lion CEO Jared Awando mentioned that the journey from 25 years to this celebration has had its ups and downs, but customers have continued to support Icea Lion’s services.
Awando added that in celebrating this milestone, they are embarking on another phase of years that will yield even better results due to the strategies implemented in providing insurance services in the country.
