The National Prosecuting Office (NPS) has been established as an independent Public Office through Government Announcement No. 49 dated February 13, 2018, to implement the constitutional authority given to the Director of Prosecutions to manage Criminal Justice in accordance with the constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania of 1977, Article 59B.
In addition, in carrying out his constitutional duties, the Director of Public Prosecutions will consider, among other things, doing justice, preventing the abuse of justice delivery procedures, and managing the public interest under Section 8 of the National Public Prosecution Law Number 27 of 2008.

Open Positions and Description
1. Government Attorney Grade II – 60 Positions.
2. Legal Secretary Class II – 20 Positions
Qualifications:
- Hiring Sixth Form Graduates with a Bachelor of Law from a college recognized by the Government.
Application Process
- Applicants retired from the Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have the approval of the Chief Secretary.
- Job applicants who are already employed in entry-level positions in the public service should not apply and should follow the instructions contained in the Circular and CAC. 45/257/01/D/140 dated November 30, 2010.
