2000 Job Vacancies Announced at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA)

Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, has announced 2,000 job vacancies as part of the Building a Better Tomorrow (BBT) program. This initiative aims to engage young people and women in agricultural activities. BBT focuses on developing skills through internships and projects across various crop value chains, with the goal of creating 20,000 jobs and establishing 12,000 economic ventures at the village level by 2030.

In support of this initiative, SUA is offering 2,000 temporary positions for agricultural graduates under the BBT Agricultural Extension Entrepreneurship Scheme (BBT-AEES). These graduates will provide extension services for cotton crops, contributing to the government’s strategy to strengthen extension services nationwide.

Open Positions and Description

1. Agriculture Officer- 1000 Posts
Provide expert advice to farmers and other stakeholders in the value chain of the cotton crop by doing the following:

  • To provide education on good cotton farming to farmers from preparing the field, harvesting to storage in the barn
  • Providing education and managing the quality of cotton from the farm to the barn
  • To monitor and ensure that farmers comply with the principles of good cotton cultivation
  • Prepare and provide weekly information about the progress of agriculture in the relevant area
  • Prepare input requirements for farmers and submit them to the relevant authorities
  • To manage and ensure that the inputs sent to the relevant area reach the farmers fully.

2. Assistant Agriculture Officer – 1000 Posts
Provide expert advice to farmers and other stakeholders in the value chain of the cotton crop by doing the following:

  • Providing education and managing the quality of cotton from the farm to the barn
  • To monitor and ensure that farmers comply with the principles of good cotton cultivation

How to apply:
All applications must be accompanied by:

  • Copies of birth certificates, NIDA, secondary education certificates, diplomas and degrees from training institutions recognized by the government. Prospective graduates (2024) with the qualifications mentioned above, are encouraged to send their applications also attaching copies of “partial transcript” or “results slips”.
  • Two recent passport size photographs of the applicant
  • Curriculum vitae of the applicant along with full address, telephone contact, e-mail and addresses of three reliable referees.
