JOB VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Director of the Morogoro Municipality has received approval for new employment for the fiscal year 2023/2024 with reference number FA.97/288/01/09 dated June 25, 2024, and approval for replacement employment with reference number FA.228/613/01/C/042 dated May 21, 2024, from the Secretary General, President’s Office – Public Service Management and Good Governance.

Therefore, the Director of the Morogoro Municipal Council announces job vacancies and invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill the following positions:

 

1.0 STREET EXECUTIVE OFFICER GRADE III – 22 POSITIONS

 

1.1 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Secretary to the Street Committee

ii. Chief Executive of the Street

iii. Coordinator of the implementation of policies and laws executed by the Council in the Street.

iv. Advisor to the Street Committee on development plans within the Street.

v. Supervisor of the implementation of Local and other laws applicable in the Street.

vi. Advisor to the Street Committee on security and safety issues.

vii. Supervisor of the implementation of various strategies regarding the eradication of hunger and poverty in the Street.

viii. Supervise the collection of Council revenues and maintain records of all taxpayers.

ix. Prepare and maintain a register of all Street residents.

x. Will be accountable to the Ward Executive Officer.

 

1.1.1 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have a Certificate of Secondary Education (Form IV/Form VI) and a Certificate (NTA LEVEL 5) in one of the following fields: Administration, Law, Social Education, Financial Management, Community Development, and Arts Science from the Local Government Training Institute or any other recognized institution by the Government.

 

1.1.2 SALARY SCALE

As per Government salary standards – TGS B.

 

1.2 OFFICE ASSISTANT GRADE II – 1 POSITION

 

1.2.1 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

i. Typing letters, reports, and both regular and confidential documents;

ii. Receiving guests and addressing their concerns and guiding them on where they can be assisted;

iii. Keeping records of events, appointments, meeting dates, the Head’s travels, and other work schedules;

iv. Searching for files and documents required for job execution;

v. Receiving files and distributing them to the appropriate Officers in the Department/Unit/Section.

vi. Collecting, storing, and returning files and documents to the relevant areas;

vii. Arranging and preparing for various meetings;

viii. Preparing a list of office supplies needed; and

ix. Performing other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor.

 

1.2.2 APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS

Employment is open to graduates of Form IV or Form VI with a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or an NTA level 6 Certificate in Secretarial Studies from recognized institutions by the government. Must have passed shorthand typing in Kiswahili and English at 100 words per minute and have training in office computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, and Publisher from any government-recognized institution.

 

1.2.3 SALARY SCALE

As per Government salary standards – TGS C.

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS

i. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged 18 to 45 years.

ii. All applicants must attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a valid address, reachable phone numbers, and an email address, along with the names of three reputable referees.

iii. Applicants who are already Public Servants must route their application letters through their employers.

iv. All applications must be accompanied by certified copies of educational and professional certificates confirmed by a Lawyer/Advocate, which include certificates of Secondary Education (Form IV/Form VI) and certificates of completion of relevant training based on job qualifications.

v. Testimonials, Provisional Results, Statement of Results, and Form IV and Form VI result slips will not be accepted.

vi. Applicants who studied abroad should ensure their certificates have been verified and approved by the relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE).

vii. Retired Public Servants are not allowed to apply unless they have permission from the Chief Secretary.

viii. Submission of false information and qualifications will result in legal action.

ix. The deadline for submitting job applications is July 23, 2024.
