Overall purpose of the role

The Data Centre Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management of availability, continuity and capacity management for Data Centre (DC) elements for KPMG SA and Southern African countries. Position specifications Educational (minimum level necessary to perform the job) Professional/Tertiary Relevant Information

Technology Qualification (NQF Level 7) (B-Tech or Degree) or (equivalent experience) Other Requirements

• Microsoft MCSE or MCP courses advantageous

• Hypervisor – VMWARE and or Hyper-V Administration

•Limited SQL Administration

• Successful completion of vendor administration training of relevant technologies

• ITIL Foundation

• Network+

• Experience and Understanding of ITIL Concepts, Change Management Processes

• Ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Comfortable to lead in their area of expertise, but also able to follow as required by the team.

• Azure fundamentals and related courses

Experience (minimum years of experience and in which fields, required to perform the job) Ideally 5 or more years Solid experience with enterprise Datacentre technology, which includes but is not limited to Storage area networks (SAN), Hypervisors and backup systems.

• Participate in design, plan and implementation of Business continuity and Disaster recovery capability for the DC.

• Day to day proactive management and monitoring of all elements of DC performance.

• Day to day management of the DC, including Hyper-visor, storage, backup and relevant application tier elements this includes relevant ITIL domains including incident, change, problem and capacity management.

• Maintain Technical Documents, Support and Operations manuals and Knowledge Base articles Area of impact (measures how wide the impact of the job is within the organisation)

• Contribute to new service deliverables including input into architecture and system design, product installation, and ongoing support escalation Interpersonal skills (the level and type of people skills required to perform this job on an ongoing basis)

• Engagement with Vendors where applicable to ensure delivery against SLA and contract

• Provide technical training as required

• Foster a good collaborative rapport with the regional team for the delivery of regional services and vulnerabilities applicable for area of responsibility.

• Align with firm and IT strategies to achieve unified objectives
