ETC Cargo Limited, a leading logistics park spanning 55 acres in Mbagala, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, seeks a highly motivated and experienced CFS Manager to oversee the operations of our export Container Freight Station (CFS).
About the Role:
As the CFS Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and smooth flow of cargo through our facility. You will be responsible for all aspects of CFS operations, from bonding cargo at the transit border to its final delivery to the port for export. This includes:
- Customs Clearance: Liaise with customs authorities to ensure efficient bonding and clearance of cargo at the transit border.
- Receiving and Storage: Oversee the secure receipt of containers at the CFS, manage yard operations, and implement effective storage strategies.
- Value-Added Services: Supervise the provision of value-added services such as cleaning, sorting, and container stuffing, adhering to strict quality control measures.
- Port Haulage: Manage the efficient and timely transportation of containers from the CFS to the port for export.
- Fobbing: Coordinate with port authorities to ensure the smooth fobbing (loading) of containers onto vessels.
- Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customs authorities, port authorities, shipping lines, and freight forwarders.
- Team Leadership: Provide effective leadership and direction to the CFS team, fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and analyze CFS performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing process optimizations.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete CFS records, prepare reports for management, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
Qualifications:
- Degree in any discipline with a post-graduate management degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrably successful experience managing a CFS operation.
- Proven track record of achieving operational excellence in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- In-depth knowledge of East African customs regulations and CFS procedures.
- Strong understanding of international trade practices and documentation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Leadership qualities with a focus on team development and motivation.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and relevant logistics software (desirable).
- Experience working in a similar role within the East African region (highly desirable).
