The Billing Section Head is responsible for managing all aspects of the billing process within the port. This includes overseeing invoice generation, billing calculations, and reconciliation of billing transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
The Billing Section Head plays a crucial role in maintaining positive relationships with customers by addressing billing inquiries, resolving disputes, and providing exceptional customer service. Continuous improvement of billing processes is essential for enhancing efficiency and reducing costs. The Billing Section Head identifies opportunities for process improvement, implements best practices, and leads initiatives to streamline workflows and optimize revenue collection.
Key Performance Areas:
- Oversee all aspects of the billing process within the port sector, including invoice generation, billing calculations, and reconciliation of billing transactions.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of billing records, verifying that invoices comply with contractual agreements, tariff structures, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership, direction, and guidance to billing staff, ensuring that tasks are assigned effectively, priorities are set, and deadlines are met.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the billing department and implement changes to streamline workflows, reduce errors, and enhance efficiency.
- Lead in the development and provide oversight on the implementation of the Billing and Collection policies, procedures and guidelines for the unit and ensure adherence of these guidelines by the staff at all times.
- Stay informed about changes in regulations, tax laws, customs regulations, and accounting standards affecting billing operations, and ensure timely updates to billing processes and procedures
- Ensuring that billing operations are conducted smoothly and efficiently, with invoices generated accurately and in a timely manner. This objective involves overseeing all aspects of the billing process, from invoice creation to reconciliation.
- Providing accurate and timely financial reports and analyses related to billing activities.
- Continuously improving billing processes and procedures to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline workflows.
- Providing leadership, guidance, and support to billing staff to ensure high performance and professional growth within the department. This objective involves fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Master’s degree in business administration or CPA or other relevant field will be added advantage
Experience and Skills Required:
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in finance and accounting management
