The Portuguese legend recently opened up about his thoughts on international titles and his motivation to continue playing at the highest level.

In an interview following Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League, Ronaldo emphasized that winning the Euro 2016 championship with Portugal was, for him, the equivalent of winning a World Cup. As a result, he stated that the idea of winning a World Cup no longer serves as a key motivation for his ongoing career.

Cristiano Ronaldo believes that winning the Euro 2016 title with Portugal is equivalent to winning the World Cup, and therefore the World Cup is not a motivation for him to continue playing football.

The Saudi Al-Nassr star made these remarks after scoring in Portugal’s 2-1 victory over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League.

This goal marked Ronaldo’s 900th career goal for clubs and national teams, leading to an emotional celebration at Da Luz Stadium in Lisbon.

After the match, Ronaldo addressed questions from the press about the World Cup, saying, “Winning the Euro with Portugal is the same as winning the World Cup.”

He added, “I’ve already won two tournaments I wanted to achieve with Portugal (Euro and the Nations League).”

He continued, “The idea of the World Cup doesn’t motivate me, what motivates me is enjoying football, and the records will come naturally.”

“It seems like scoring 900 goals is very difficult, but only I know the hard work I put in every day to achieve that,” he concluded.
