Trump claims that he can end the war between Russia and Ukraine in one day. Donald Trump has reaffirmed his assertion that he could swiftly resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine within a day if he were to be re-elected as president.
However, Vassily Nebenzia, Russia’s ambassador to the United Nations, has contradicted Trump’s claim, stating that such a complex crisis cannot be resolved in a single day.

In response to Trump’s statement, Nebenzia emphasized the ongoing human toll of the conflict, stating, “Russians and Ukrainians are dying and I want them to stop dying. I will do that within 24 hours,” echoing Trump’s assertion of a quick resolution following potential meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump reiterated this stance during his recent campaign activities.
During a debate with President Joe Biden, Trump criticized the handling of the Ukraine situation, suggesting that under his leadership, a stronger relationship with Putin would have deterred Russian aggression: “If we had a real president, a president who knew he was respected by Putin … they wouldn’t have dared to go into Ukraine.”
Ambassador Nebenzia referenced past diplomatic efforts, noting that in April 2022, there was a near-agreement in Istanbul between Russia and Ukraine before Russia’s military action in February of that year. Russia, however, maintains that its involvement began in 2014 following conflicts in eastern Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea.
Nebenzia placed blame on Western supporters of Ukraine, accusing them of obstructing peace agreements and urging Kyiv to continue resisting Russia’s military actions.
“Zelensky is promoting what he calls his peace plan, which is not a peace plan but rather stubbornness,” Nebenzia commented.
